ABOUT KORNELIUS

Kornelius

Born in San Francisco, California from immigrant parents fleeing Nicaragua, Kornelius was literally raised in a cardboard crib in the basement of the home of relatives in the city’s Mission District. From a young boy who drew the images of a coloring book instead of simply coloring, to a teen who would sneak out of his home to do “block busters” and “get ups” in Miami’s streets, the world of art has been a way of life since birth. A way of life that has always centered around love. As the years passed and Kornelius would graduate from street murals to commissioned pieces, every one of his works would continue to speak the language of love. His signature LOVE stamp trademark is seen in every painting because each work is based on the sensation of love: every piece represents an interpretation of a moment where love was the highest power and common denominator. It is a love that encapsulates every experience, regret, sorrow, and happiness lived by the artist.
Yet love is in the eye of the beholder, experienced differently by everyone. Considering this, all of the artist’s works are created to portray a love that still is open to the viewer’s own interpretation: allowing them to remember a story, a moment, or memory of a love they once lived. The most powerful feeling in the world is love. Most decisions in life are made by love. As well, some of the biggest mistakes in life are made by love.
